Welcome!

I’m a writer, researcher, and speaker on human rights and criminal justice. As an international development professional, I also consult with organizations on strategic planning, policy planning, research methods, program evaluation, and more. I have fifteen years experience in government, multilateral, academic, and nonprofit organizations. My areas of specialization include security sector reform, corrections, community violence prevention, and post-conflict governance issues, mainly in Latin America and the Caribbean.

I completed my PhD in criminal justice at John Jay College of Criminal Justice (CUNY) in New York City, for which I did a mixed-methods study of prison reform in the Dominican Republic. I also work in research on reducing incarceration at the Vera Institute of Justice. Here are my most recent publications and my Google Scholar profile.

I have deep experience in project management, proposal development, applied research, gender-based analysis, and monitoring and evaluation. I speak fluent Spanish and French and have worked extensively in international contexts.
